Involuntary Separation, Corporate Downsizing Gone Fatally Wrong, a novel by Rick Lacey

Involuntary Separation, Corporate Downsizing Gone Fatally Wrong was inspired by real events that took place at BP headquarters.

As a Senior Financial Analyst for BP, I observed and to a limited extent participated in those events.  It was my goal with the novel to reveal what was behind corporate decision making at BP and to call attention to the tragedy of corporate downsizing before it gained widespread acceptance throughout corporate America.

Though I was a financial analyst and could make the case with the numbers, I knew a financial text was not going to get national attention.  I went to the opposite extreme with the psychological thriller.

BP America was being corrupted by a man who by all accounts actually believed it was his destiny to rule the world.  My depiction of him as the evil Lord Debauchton may have seemed extreme at the time.  Today, readers will find him quite believable.

In the pages of my novel five BP executives including the Chairman are murdered before the evil is stopped.  In the real world 39 BP employees and contractors have lost their lives to BP greed since 1995 and we still have not taken action to stop it.
